How a Sub-Floor Drainage System Is Installed

Precision Concrete Cutting

We begin by cutting the concrete floor along the foundation wall using a professional concrete saw. This creates a clean, straight edge and minimizes unnecessary disturbance to the surrounding slab.

Concrete Removal & Trench Preparation

The cut concrete section is carefully removed, and the area beneath the slab is excavated to create space for the drainage system. All debris is cleared to ensure proper placement of piping and gravel.

Foundation Wall Drainage (Block Foundations)

If the home has cinder block foundation walls, we drill weep holes in the bottom course of block. These holes allow trapped water inside the hollow blocks to drain freely into the system instead of building pressure and leaking into the basement.

Drainage Pipe or Footer Track Installation

Depending on the system design and foundation type, we install either: A perforated drainage pipe placed alongside the footing. A drainage track installed directly on top of the footing. Both methods are designed to capture groundwater and wall seepage efficiently.

Gravel Filtration Layer

Clean gravel is placed around the drainage system to filter incoming water and prevent sediment from entering the pipe. This improves water flow and helps protect the system long-term.

Concrete Restoration

Once the drainage components are in place, the concrete floor is poured back and finished flush with the existing slab. This restores the floor’s appearance while maintaining full system functionality.

Optional Vapor Barrier Installation

Vapor barriers can be added along the foundation wall to help manage moisture vapor and improve overall humidity control within the basement.

Sump Basin & Pump Installation (If Needed)

When gravity drainage is not possible, a sump basin is installed to collect water from the drainage system. A sump pump is then used to discharge water safely away from the foundation through a dedicated outlet line.
