How to Stop Yard Erosion Before It Damages Your Home
Every year, homeowners across North Georgia step outside after a heavy rain to find mulch washed into the street, bare patches carved into their lawn,
Josh Schmitt is the founder and owner of Schmitt Waterproofing, a family-owned company serving homeowners throughout North Metro Atlanta and the surrounding areas. Having grown up around the construction industry, Josh developed an early understanding of how buildings are constructed and how proper water management plays a critical role in protecting homes and foundations.
Before launching Schmitt Waterproofing in 2017, Josh worked as a Superintendent for Nova Commercial Interiors from 2012 to 2017, overseeing commercial construction projects and gaining extensive experience in building systems, project management, and problem-solving in the field.
After receiving specialized training in waterproofing and foundation water management, Josh became fascinated by the science behind how water affects homes. He developed a passion for diagnosing the root causes of basement leaks, crawl space moisture issues, foundation water intrusion, and drainage problems rather than simply treating the symptoms. This passion ultimately led him to establish Schmitt Waterproofing, where he focuses on providing long-term solutions that help homeowners protect their properties from water damage.
Josh is an Emecole Certified Contractor and an NDS Professional Drainage Contractor, with expertise in basement waterproofing, foundation crack repair, crawl space encapsulation, French drains, stormwater management systems, and residential drainage design.
Today, Josh remains actively involved in the company's day-to-day operations, personally meeting with homeowners, performing inspections, developing custom solutions, and overseeing projects. His hands-on approach and commitment to educating homeowners have helped Schmitt Waterproofing earn a reputation as a trusted provider of waterproofing and drainage solutions throughout North Georgia.
